Press & Promo for The New Acoustic Collective
"I couldn’t be more proud of how Jason and Company are carrying on the torch of New Acoustic, Dawg, and SpaceGrass music. I highly recommend you check out “Buckwild”, by The New Acoustic Collective”!
- Wyatt Rice
“As one of the progenitors of ’New Acoustic Music’ back in the 1970s I must say that I am overwhelmed by the evolution of the form and its continued excellence. This band ’The New Acoustic Collective’ is one of the most innovative to appear so far. Their basic instrumentation is wild: guitar, cello, fiddle, 2 double basses, drums & flugelhorn. The chop is generously ladled throughout, as its inventor I couldn’t be more proud. These guys totally cook and their composing and arranging skills are awesome. I am honored that they asked me to contribute these few words, you’ve got to check them out!
- Richard Greene
"These young West Coast musicians are carrying the torch high for Acoustic String Music, and I expect great things from them”.
-Darol Anger
fiddler, composer, producer and educator, founding member of The David Grisman Quintet, 1977-1985
"These young cats are burning up some New Acoustic Music! Thanks guys.”-
Mike Marshall
Grammy Nominated Professional Mandolinist, David Grisman Quintet alum 1978-1990
"Keep an eye and an ear on this group!"
-Rusty Holloway

"For fans of David Grisman or Tony Rice – or any new acoustic sound – Buckwild is a worthwhile journey deserving of more than just a casual listen. As this genre continues to evolve and be change by younger musicians from many genres and places, let [The New Acoustic Collective] guide you through its Northern California origins to an exciting future”.

Victor started his musical journey around age 10 sharing the same dream with a lot of people of becoming a famous rockstar. And thus, he started learning classical guitar around 2011. And he kept taking guitar lessons until his guitar instructor passed several years later. Around his junior year in high school, a friend of Victor invited him to join a youth orchestra group called YMCO. And it was here where he started his musical journey as a classical bassists and decided to pursue music as his career in college. Today, Victor is one of the two classical bassists currently studying at SJSU under the instruction of Bruce Moyer. He has played for the San Jose Wind Symphony, invited to a tour to Argentina and Uruguay by the San Jose Youth Symphony as a ringer, has been a featured artist in the Mercury News, and has also been a recipient of the Leigh Weimers Rising Artist Award. In addition to his musicianship on Double Bass, he started expanding his musical knowledge by starting his studies on the pipe organ with an organist named Harold Stuart and also performs music with his duet partner, who is an accomplished clarinetist and instructor, Morgan Sonnenfeld. |
